How we write our houseboat guides

Every guide answers one real question travellers ask, such as what a day cruise includes or how a Dal Lake houseboat is graded. We aim to give the clearest single answer to that question, including the parts brochures leave out.

Where the information comes from

  • Our own stays and day cruises, and notes from friends and readers who have done them.
  • Official state tourism pages for registration, classification and rules on the water.
  • Maps, local news and operators’ published terms for timings, routes and seasons, cross-checked against each other.

Writing tools and pictures

We use writing software, including AI tools, to organise research notes and prepare first drafts. A person rewrites and checks every page before it goes live, and rules, timings and places are checked against the sources above. The photos on our guides are illustrations created with an AI image tool from detailed descriptions and reviewed by a person; they show the kind of scene described, not a particular boat.

What we leave out

We do not print prices, because houseboat rates change with the season, the date and the boat. Instead we explain what makes a stay cost more or less, so you can compare quotes yourself. We also do not name operators or boats.
